Note according to the Cadillac service manual the muffler the can shaped component is used in refrigerant systems to reduce compressor noises high pressure line vibrations. 226 genuine and original Gm air conditioning hose assembly without original box, an old stock part, this part is the real thing not an aftermarket copy.

A wire mesh screen inside the muffler will trap debris should the compressor fail this will eliminate the need to flush the refrigerant system. This hose assembly may be compatible with all 85, Cadillac model's with a hose assembly in a regular box, box is not a Gm box.
