When I look in my 1964 Oldsmobile parts book, that part is numbered as, so Gm superseded old number to this new one. If you want one for an Oldsmobile, luck out and get extra. In my 1974 Oldsmobile parts book, this spring shows up with part number for dynamic 88, super 88 and 98 model's, as the indirect air valve control - of heating controls. This was a real odd one to figure out.

Apparently, what happened was that Gm came up with a new use for this exact same size of spring, so re-issued it, but number.
